If you have three free hours during your stay in Galapagos, one of the best options you have to take advantage of this time is to take a tour to Las Tintoreras, a small islet a few minutes from Isabela. The lava here has formed channels that are full of water and in which the white-tip sharks come to rest by dozens. It is not strange that you can see about fifty sharks as you travel the rocks, as well as blue-footed boobies and iguanas (BTW, be careful where you walk because the iguanas do not care about your presence near them and you could step on one without wanting to). Then you have to snorkel (the equipment is included) because you will have the opportunity to swim with these same sharks as well as sea lions, manta rays, sea turtles and see thousands of fish of all colors. As I say, the whole tour takes about 3 hours which, of course, may seem very short but it’s really worth it. I recommend you take plenty of water with you because it can be very hot and, above all, do not wear sandals because you could hurt your feet. In Galápagos it is advisable to walk with comfortable shoes if you are going to take walks … and you will surely go for walks because they never disappoint! As always when I find good material that can explain a little better the experience you are about to live, I leave here a YouTube video below.
