Due to the pandemic that we are experiencing worldwide, to enter Galapagos you need a COVID-19 test with a negative result, done within 96 hours before boarding the plane and a safe-conduct that the passenger’s hosts will process with the authorities of the islands.
Traveling with these documents you will not have to do any quarantine when you arrive on the islands and not on your return to mainland Ecuador.
How do I have to get tested for COVID-19?
The only accepted type of test is the PCR. Please be clear that rapid tests or IGG / IGM will not be accepted. This test can be the same one that you used to enter Ecuador (in case you are a foreigner), as long as it complies with having been taken within the required 96 hours.
If you have to take the test in Ecuador, it must be done in a laboratory recognized by the Agency for Quality Assurance of Services of Prepaid Health and Medicine (ACESS).
How is the safe conduct processed to enter Galapagos?
The people who are going to receive you on the islands should take care of this.
Once you have your ticket, it is necessary to contact those responsible for the place where you are going to stay or the travel agency that will guide you.
In the case of Galatravel, we prefer that you send us a photo of your passport and your plane ticket to avoid possible mistakes when entering your information. This is, of course, with the aim that there is not the slightest possibility that your trip will be frustrated at the last minute with all the costs that this causes. It is also important that you give us these data at least 24 hours in advance because in this way your pass will have the necessary time to process without inconvenience.
I really feel the need to apologize for all the inconvenience that this surely causes to all the people who want to visit the Galapagos Islands but, unfortunately, that’s the way things are and we can’t do much to change them, at least in the short term.
What I can guarantee is that all the air routes that arrive in Galapagos are already enabled and the entire population is ready to receive tourists with all the cordiality that characterizes us.
Apart from the COVID-19 test and the safe-conduct, do I need anything else to enter Galapagos?
Yes, what we have mentioned before (the COVID-19 test and the safe conduct) is only required due to the pandemic. Apart from these documents, it is normal that to enter Galapagos, you need to pay a
- Transit Control Card (TCT) that has a value of $ 20.00
- and pay Tribute (tax) of entry to the protected areas of Galapagos, which costs $ 100.00
